Sermon Notes for October 14th, 2012 (I Thess. 5:16-18)

Living in the will of God Bud Pearson

One of the questions all Christians ask is, "What is God's will for my life"

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

1.Be Joyful Always
We have relationship with our Creator. (I Cor.6:19-20)
19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

We know the beginning and the end. (John 1:1-3)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

2.Pray Continually (Deu.4:7)
7 What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the LORD our God is near us whenever we pray to him?
Where, When, Why and How.
Who and What (Eph.6:19-20)
19 Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

3.Give Thanks in all Circumstances
Because we know the truth about life. (John 16:33)
33 "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

Because God is sovereign over all. (Philippians 4:4-7)
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
