(Psalm 57, 2 Corinthians 12:9, 10)

A. God’s mercy (0-3)

0 For the director of music. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” Of David. A When he had fled from Saul into the cave.
1 Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.
2 I cry out to God Most High, to God, who fulfills [his purpose] for me.3 He sends from heaven and saves me, rebuking those who hotly pursue me; God sends his love and his faithfulness.

B. Having a steadfast heart (4-11, 2 Corinthians 12:9, 10)

1. Fixing our eyes on Jesus, no on other people

2. Offering thanks and praise

(2 Corinthians 12:9, 10) But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Summary

Without God’s mercy, we can’t live an empowered life. We should boast about our weakness. As Paul wrote, God’s power is revealed through our weakness. By God’s mercy and as we walk with him, our hearts can remain steadfast no matter what is happening around us.
